What has happened to the entertainment industry?

Has anyone else noticed what has been shoved on television and called entertainment lately? Most of the sitcoms are anything but comedic, we have more reality television than reality topics, and many of the movies are just replays of last months movies. So how do we call this entertainment? Has the entertainment industry become so big that there is no room for real entertainment on television, or have we all just become so numbed by the process of entertainment that we don’t decide to turn off the television when it is not actually entertaining us?

There are plenty of potential sources responsible for the downfall of entertainment. But if we want to point the largest finger, we have to point to ourselves. We are entertainment freaks and we can always find something to watch no matter how desperately little there might be on TV. In fact, the real crux of the entertainment industry is that we will always be there, watching reruns and hoping for something better. But we watch. We watch again and then we watch yet again. If we want the entertainment industry to give us something worth watching then we have to respond with that type of enthusiasm. Turn the television off and stop being a predictable consumer. There are plenty of those in the world. Be an individual and demand actual entertainment from the industry. That is the only way we will ever come to see change within the industry.
